Yellow Silence № 11 (Yellow Tea)
Yellow Silence № 11 (Yellow Tea)
Facts
Yellow Silence № 11 is a rare yellow tea crafted in Taiwan, where such teas are seldomly produced. The process involves a "yellowing" step added to the green tea base, resulting in a tea that combines the freshness of green tea with a more mellow and rounded character. This tea is made from the Da Man cultivar, an almost extinct varietal, known for its delicate pear-like aroma. Only the tender buds from the first flush are used, grown naturally in Pinglin, Taipei, under sustainable farming practices.
Source
This tea comes from Bai Ge, a long-time collaborator dedicated to sustainable tea cultivation. His approach involves minimal intervention, allowing nature to dictate the rhythm of growth. The tea plants coexist with other flora, creating a biodiverse ecosystem that enriches the soil and results in deeply flavorful leaves. With only one to two harvests per year, the focus is on quality and letting the land rejuvenate.
Flavor Profile
Yellow Silence № 11 offers a refined honey aroma paired with a clean, sweet, and pure profile. Its liquor is smooth and understated, with a gentle sweetness that lingers and fades naturally. Despite its lighter oxidation, the tea benefits from the rich soil and slower growth, giving it a more grounded and balanced character.
Drinking Suggestion
This tea's refreshing and soothing qualities are reminiscent of morning sunlight, making it an excellent choice for the start of the day or during warm weather. For green tea lovers, Yellow Silence № 11 provides a familiar yet distinct experience, balancing novelty and comfort.

Use 3 g of tea leaves, steeping for 3 – 5 minutes. Why We Share This Tea
Though I usually prefer teas with higher oxidation, this yellow tea's subtle and elegant character captivated me. Its approachable flavor also resonates with those who typically favor more robust teas, making it a versatile addition to any tea collection.
