Orange Sun № 4 (Oolong)

Facts

Orange Sun № 4 is a unique medium-oxidized, heavily roasted Oolong tea, crafted through an innovative process tailored to the tea’s character. Using the Qingxin Oolong cultivar, it originates from wild tea gardens on Yunnan’s Wuliang Mountain, situated 2,300 meters above sea level in a pristine and fertile environment.

Source

This tea is crafted by a Taiwanese tea master specializing in traditional longan wood charcoal roasting. With over 20 years of Buddhist practice and two published books on tea, the master approaches tea roasting with a philosophy of "non-ego," derived from Buddhist teachings. Instead of imposing personal aesthetics or intentions onto the tea, he focuses on observing and enhancing the tea's inherent qualities. Charcoal roasting is used not to embellish but to refine and reveal the tea's natural essence. The result is a tea with a nuanced texture that feels as though it resonates deeply within the cells—light yet full-bodied, intricate yet harmonious.

Flavor Profile

Despite its medium oxidation, this tea begins with subtle grassy notes that gradually give way to floral and fruity aromas, accented by a hint of tartness. The finish is a sweet interplay of longan wood charcoal and honey undertones. The tea’s texture is silky and smooth, supported by a robust and rich base reflective of the fertile mountain soil. While the roast is prominent, it feels gentle and balanced, releasing delicate layers of flavor with each infusion.

Drinking Suggestion

Sipping Orange Sun № 4 is like basking in the warmth of the sun’s rays — it energizes and soothes simultaneously. Perfect for moments when you need to recharge from fatigue or dispel gloom, this tea embodies the nurturing energy of the earth and the sun, helping to restore balance and uplift the spirit.

Gongfu Style

Use 5 – 5.5 g of tea leaves with 100 ml of water at 100° C. Steep for 40 seconds initially, increasing subsequent infusions by 5 – 10 seconds.

Western Style

Use 3 g of tea leaves with 500 ml of water, steeping for 3 – 5 minutes.
